The “most corrupt” government in history has been caught red-handed in its pursuit of cash and property.
And it’s not just a case of money laundering or corruption.
The US has become the most corrupt country in the world, according to Transparency International, the most influential watchdog of the financial system.
“This is a truly remarkable achievement.
But it is also a stunning indictment of how corrupt we are as a society,” said David Weigel, a Washington Post columnist and former Wall Street Journal reporter who co-authored the new report.
Transparency International called the US the world’s most corrupt nation for the first time in a report released Tuesday.
The report found the US has overtaken the UK and Brazil to become the world leader in the amount of money it’s taking from its citizens and giving it to the top 1 percent.
While this is a major change, the report noted that the US still has a long way to go to match the UK, Brazil and the Philippines in terms of wealth redistribution.
“It’s not a panacea,” said Transparency International President Daniel Ortega.
“But it is a big step in the right direction.
It’s important to remember that this is still a global society.
It is the most unequal and corrupt country on the planet.”
The report also noted that a significant percentage of the wealth generated by the top 0.1 percent of Americans went to the richest 0.01 percent of American households, including a significant amount of personal wealth held by the president, vice president and other high-ranking officials. The top 0
